KNIGA
and Samsung Culture Foundation Sign the MOU to Support the Gifted in Arts
On 18 May, the Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts (KNIGA) and Samsung Culture Foundation entered into the MOU to discover and support the gifted in arts at the Rosa Hall on the Seocho-dong campus of the K-Arts. The main contents of the MOU included the discovery and cultivation of young talents in the early stage, the shared use of infrastructures, and the concert cooperation of the two institutions.
In particular, both institutions strongly agreed on cooperating for
hosting the prodigy concert by the Leeum Art Museum in 2023. The Samsung
Culture Foundation indicated that it would provide financial support for young
artists through scholarships as well as opportunities for young artists and
their teachers to co-stage their performances through the Leeum Art Museum’s concert
series for art prodigy. The efforts are indeed anticipated to strengthen the
educational significance of cooperation between teachers and students and motivate
young talents to step up as artists by having solo concerts of their own.
As for the case, on 22 April, director Lee Seongju of the KNIGA,
a violinist, and Son Jiwoo, a student of the KNIGA, ended a concert with great
success. Professor and pansori master Chae Soo-jung and her students on 22 July,
professor and pianist Lee Jin-sang and his students on 28 October, and cellist
and dean Lee Kangho of the School of Music and his students on 25 November will
give their performances on the respective dates. The concerts are free of
charge, and anyone interested could register for the events on the website of Leeum
Art Museum.
