K-Arts Dancers Shine at TANZOLYMP:
Jo Jeongik and Min Jungwon Secure Top Honors in Berlin
At
the 21st International Dance Festival TANZOLYMP, held in Berlin from February
15th to 19th, Jo Jeongik (2nd-year student in Dance Performance) and Min
Junggwon (3rd-year student in Dance Performance), majoring in contemporary
dance at the School of Dance, clinched the 1st and 2nd awards, respectively, in
the Contemporary Dance Solo category.
Both students boast a history of numerous accolades in esteemed domestic and international competitions. Jo Jeongik, the recipient of the Contemporary Dance Solo 1st Prize, previously secured 3rd place in the 2022 Dong-A Dance Competition, 3rd place in the 2022 Seoul International Dance Competition, and Gold at the 2023 Tanzolymp Asia. Min Jungwon, honored with the Contemporary Dance Solo 2nd Prize, had earlier claimed Gold at the 2022 PADAF Dance Competition, Silver at the 2023 Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition, and Gold at the 2023 Tanzolymp Asia.
Both
students actively participate in dance performances and competitions within the
university. Their triumph in this competition serves as a poignant affirmation
of the potential of Korean contemporary dance on the global stage.
