Joo-hyup, Current Acting Student, Is Cast in the Premier of Musical “Jamie”
Actor Shin Joo-hyup, a
current student of the School of Drama, was cast in the musical “Jamie.” The
musical is based on West End production’s original work of “Everybody’s Talking
About Jamie” which made a great hit in its hometown, Britain. In Korea, it is
on stage from July 4th through September 11th at LG Arts Center.
Inspired by the true
story, the musical follows a 17-year-old teenager Jamie’s journey to achieving
his dream, to become a drag queen. For the lead role of Jamie, Shin Joo-hyup
was double cast with Korea’s idol group 2AM’s Jo Kwon. As this is the very first
time to premiere “Jamie” in Asia outside of Britain, the musical is receiving
high anticipation.
Before "Jamie,"
Shin Joo-hyup has been attracting public attention as a new rising star actor through
his different roles in many works both on stage and on TV. Most recently, he
played the role in a TV drama series KBS2’s Memorials (2020).
He also appeared in tvN’s Hospital
Playlist (2020), and SBS’s VIP (2019),
and even in the Web Drama series Seventeen (2017).
Aside from TV series, he participated in the musicals “Sweeney Todd,”
“Sidereus,” “Maybe Happy Ending, and Dwarfs.”
