The
Korea National University of Arts Appoints New Professors
The Korea
National University of Arts appointed three new professors on the 24th through
the 1st open recruitment of the full-time lecturers in 2020. The appointees are
professor Woo Sujin (Korean Theatre Studies, School of Drama), professor Ahn
Hee-yeon (Poetry/Playwriting, School of Drama), and professor Kim Min-ae (Fine
Arts, School of Visual Arts).
Theatre critic
Woo Sujin earned a doctorate in Korean Literature at Yonsei University. She is
also the chairman of the “Theatre and Theory Club.”
Poet Ahn Hee-yeon
acquired her master’s degree in Creative Writing at Myongji University. She
published the poetry books Things We Call the Night and When
Your Sadness is in the Middle of the Day.
Installation
artist Kim Min-ae studied Fine Arts at the Royal College of Art (UK). She won
the 29th JoongAng Fine Arts Prize, 4th Doosan Artist Award, and Korea Artist
Prize 2020 by the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.
In this recruitment, which ran from March 30th to April 14th, 151 people applied for the eight positions in eight fields. The candidates went under scrutinizing verification procedure through screenings, examinations, and interviews before the final appointment.

Bongryol said, “All our new professors are talented artists who are active in
their fields. I anticipate that we will all be able to work for developing our
shared vision.”
