Novelist Lim Solah Wins in the 10th Moonji Literature Contest
Novelist and poet Lim Solah won the Moonji Literature Award with her short story, <A White Round Spot.> The jury rated her work as a contemplative and reflective piece. As a reason for selection, they explained Lim successfully embodied a cognitive and ethical limit within a human using a topic of a blind spot, and she still does not give up on seeking hope beyond the limit.
Lim Solah debuted by winning JoongAng New Writer’s Award
in 2013 in Poetry and Munhakdongne Novel Award in 2015. She has published a
short story collection, Snow, People, and
Snowmen, a novel A Life Lived
to the Utmost, and a poetry anthology, Still Weather and Nice People. After
receiving the award, the author said, “I wrote this story based on my
experience at a community, Private Land, created by four visual artists. They
urged me to look for the blind spot together, and thanks to them, I enjoyed
writing this novel. With them, I was able to go through the helpless time I was
unwell.”
