Musical Play <Madame Ong>, Starring Alumna Lee So-yeon of School
of Korean Traditional Arts, Continues to Succeed

So-yeon, who studied in our undergraduate and graduate programs in the School
of Korean Traditional Arts, played the leading role in Madame Ong from
July 2nd through July 3rd at Daejeon Yeonjeong Korean Traditional Music Center.
Madame
Ong is a Korean musical play presented by the
National Theater of Korea. Enjoying great popularity, Madame Ong was
staged every year since its premiere in 2014. The tickets have gone sold out
every time, and Lee So-yeon, who has performed in the play for six years since
the premiere, contributes to attaining perfection of performance with her
skilled acting and clear voice.
When
premiered in 2014, Madame Ong gathered attention for being the first
changgeuk to have an 18+ age restriction and its lengthy performance period up
to 26 days maximum. In the same year, the work gained recognition by winning
Cha Beom-seok Drama Award in the musical script. In 2016, the performance was
invited to and staged at the Theatre de la Ville in Paris.
