of Dance Presents “The 25th Anniversary of K-Arts Ballet”
From Friday, 22 to
Saturday, 23 October, the School of Dance in K-Arts hosted “The 25th
Anniversary of K-Arts Ballet” to celebrate the 25th anniversary of
the foundation of the School of Dance and the 30th anniversary of
the Korea-Russia friendship bridge. Since 1997, the School of Dance has been in
partnership with the Vaganova Academy in Russia for 25 years, tied with ballet.
Before the joint concert scheduled for upcoming December, School of Dance had a
chance to unveil its ballet repertoires, presenting outstanding competence by
our students at “The 25th Anniversary of K-Arts Ballet.”
In this event, the
School of Dance staged eight works. The lineup included creative ballets that
combine classical ballet with Korean traditional music, “Sujecheon” and “Thrust,
Exhilaration,” choreographed by professor Jo Ju-hyun, and the representative
works of classical ballet, “La Esmeralda,” “La Gioconda,” and “Pas de Quatre.”
Georgian-American ballet choreographer George Balanchine’s masterpieces, “Stars
and Stripes” and “Theme & Variation,” and professor Kim Sun-hee’s
“Throbbing” were also staged this day. The ballet masters from all around the
world, the art directors of the Boston Ballet and State Ballet of Georgia,
ex-art director of the Sofia National Opera (Bulgaria) made their presence in
this concert.
Professor Kim
Sun-hee (School of Dance) stated, “Lots of schools from around the world are
indeed showing their great interest in K-Arts’ ballet education system. I’m
glad about this opportunity in which we could show the prestige of Korean
ballet.”
