Four
School of Dance Students Win Awards in the 59th National New Dancer
Competition
On Friday, 8
April, in the 59th National New Dancer Competition at the Ro-un Art Hall in
Korean Artist Center in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, four of our School Dance students
swept the prizes. Kim Donghyeon, 25 years old, who presented the Kkokdu-Hwan
(The Return of Puppet), became the winner of the Gold Prize and Song Beom Prize
both. The Song Beom Prize is for the Gold Prize winner who scored the highest
in the creative Korean dance category for males and females. In the modern
dance for the female, Park Serim, 18 years old, took the Gold Prize.
Lee Sarang, 22
years old, attained the Silver in the Korean creative dance for the female. Kim
Kyu-nyeon, 21 years old, won the Bronze in the creative Korean dance for the
male.
The National New
Dancer Competition, hosted by the Korean Dance Association Competition, started
in 1963 by awarding rookies in dance. Thenceforth the contest has become a
high-profile opportunity for the new dancer in Korea looking for a debut.
