K-Arts' Korean National Research Center for the Arts (KRECA) Hosts the “International Arts Forum: Arts Creativity in
the Metaverse Era”
Korean National Research Center for the Arts (KRECA), an affiliation institution of the
K-Arts, held and online streamed an international arts forum on “Arts Creativity
in the Metaverse Era.”
In part 1, there was a discussion on
creative arts experience using the metaverse and related industry along with
its prospect in the future. The presenters included VR film director German
Heller from Argentina, electronic musician Park Seungsoon from Korea, visual
artist Gordon Berger who gave a lecture on NFT art on TEDx for the first time,
and others. They shared their knowledge and views on the characteristics of
metaverse work earned from various research and project experiences and introduced
the key concepts on the latest trends.
In part 2, Micaela Mantegna of the
Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University, Jeon Hyun-hee
of Arts Council Korea, and Sung Yonghee of the National Museum of Modern and
Contemporary Art, Korea, made their presence. They talked about the application
of jurisdiction in the digital world and the support project in the metaverse
arts activities by the Korean government, exchanging their ambivalent responses
on the emerging new world.
Head Lee Jinwon of the KRECA, professor of the Department of Korean Traditional Arts Theory at the School of Korean Traditional Arts, stated, “The new dimensional space requires new dimensional
thoughts. This forum seeks creativity that will found the grammar of the arts
anew.”
