The K-Arts has hired seven professors in total: five in
the 1st open recruitment of 2022, one in the special recruitment, and one in
the recruitment of 2021 who had suspended the appointment. Through this open
recruitment, violinist Kim Young-uk (Department of Instrumental Music, School
of Music), 3D and XR animation director Park Jong-shin (Department of
Animation, School of Film, TV & Multimedia), ballet dancer Kim Hyun Woong (Department
of Dance Performance, School of Dance), dance critic Han Seok Jin (Department
of Dance Theory, School of Dance), and sculptor Jun Sojung (Department of Fine
Arts, School of Visual Arts) were assigned their posts. Kim Young-uk won the
2014 Mozart Competition Salzburg in the string quartet. He has also been
actively performing as a member of the Novus Quartet for 15 years. Park Jong-shin
has been a 3D and XR technical director at Studio Holhory, Inc. and Around
Effect, Inc. since 2011. Kim Hyun Woong is the winner of the 2011 Dance
Competition Sicily in pas de deux. He also performed as the principal dancer in
Korean National Ballet and the Washington Ballet. Han Seok Jin, who majored in
dance aesthetics and criticism, conducts in-depth research in his field,
publishing multiple papers, including the one which won the Best Paper Award
granted by the Korean Association of Dance Critics and Researchers (KADCR) in
2022. Jun Sojung is the winner of art awards by the Foundation of enterprise
Hermès Art Award in 2018 and the Songeun Art and Cultural Foundation in 2015.
Actively engaging in artistic activities at home and abroad, Jun is expected to
set a role model and inspire her students in their creative activities.
Through the special recruitment, on the other hand, the school appointed filmmaker Kim Yong-hwa to the full-time faculty of the Department of Filmmaking in the School of Film, TV & Multimedia. The special recruitment aimed to hire professionals from home or abroad in the field related to the major to foster the next generation of experts in video art. Kim Yong-hwa won the Best Director Award at the 54th Baeksang Arts Awards in 2018 and the Best Film Award at the 46th Baeksang Arts Awards in 2010. With his series, Along with the Gods (2017) & (2018), he earned recognition as a ten million-viewer director.
Professor Shim Kyuha in computational design won his post
in the Department of Design in the School of Visual Arts through the first
full-time faculty recruitment in 2021. He finally took his position this year
after suspending his appointment. Shim served as an associate professor at
Carnegie Mellon University in the United States and won the 2012 Red Dot Design
Award. He was also a research fellow at the MIT Senseable City Lab, the United
States.
