From Friday, 26
August to Friday, 9 September, professors Kim Samjin and Jung Jaehyuk of the
Department of Choreography in the School of Dance in K-Arts engaged in an
exchange program for dance performance production at the University of Hawaii
at Manoa. In this program, “Form Within a Form: Echoes and Reverberations,”
students of the University of Hawaii at Manoa worked on creating a subscription
concert through master classes on choreography arranged by professors Kim and
Jung.
Professor Kim passed
on original rhythms and styles of traditional Korean dance through the dance
piece “Chuljeong: The Battle Against Invisible Fear.” Professor Jung
interpreted the Korean sentiment into a form of contemporary dance through the
dance work “Hangout.” Through this event, the K-Arts seeks to introduce Korean
culture and its value overseas while consolidating a sustainable network for
the cooperative exchange of two institutions.
