The Vera Quartet is currently Graduate Quartet-in-Residence at the Jacobs School of Music of Indiana University, studying with the Pacifica Quartet. As quartet-in-residence for the Jacobs School of Music New Music Ensemble this year, the Vera Quartet works closely with director David Dzubay and performs contemporary works for string quartet on most New Music Ensemble programs. The quartet was formed in August of 2015 and has been performing in and around Bloomington ever since; other performances include at the Beethovenhaus in Bonn, Germany, the Banff Centre in Canada, and at the Manhattan School of Music as part of the 2017 Robert Mann String Quartet Institute. In the coming months the quartet will be featured on NPR’s Performance Today, and will perform Tan Dun’s Concerto for String Quartet and Pipa with famed pipa player Wu Man. In addition to working with the Pacifica Quartet, the Vera Quartet has been coached by Atar Arad, Mauricio Fuks, Peter Stumpf, Alex Kerr, Mark Steinberg, Richard Lester, Martin Beaver, Ani Kavafian, Peter Winograd, David Geber, and Nicholas Mann.

베라콰르텟(Vera Quartet)은 현재 인디애나 주립대학 제이콥 음악대학원 전속 사중주으로 파시피카 콰르텟(Pacifica Quartet)과 함께 활동하고 있다. 2015년 8월에 창단한 베라콰르텟은 인디애나주 블루밍턴을 중심으로 독일 본에 있는 ‘베토벤하우스(the Beethovenhaus)’와 캐다나의 ‘반프센터(the Banff Centre)’에서 공연을 가졌으며 미국을 비롯하여 국내외를 막론하고, 다양한 연주 활동을 펼치고 있다. 이번년도 베라콰르텟은 현대곡을 포함한 새로운 앙상블 프로그램들을 David Dzubay 감독과 함께 작업하고 있으며, ‘로버트 만 현악 사중주 연구소(Robert Mann String Quartet Institute)’의 일환으로 맨해튼 음악대학에서 공연을 가질 예정이다. 또한, 미국공영라디오의 오늘의 연주(NPR’s Performance Today) 프로그램에서 베라콰르텟에 관하여 방송 될 예정이며, 저명한 비파연주가 ‘Wu Man’와 함께 현악사중주와 비파를 위한 ‘Tan Dun’s 협주곡’ 연주가 있을 예정이다. 파시피카콰르텟과 함께 작업해온 베라콰르텟은 Atar Arad, Mauricio Fuks, Peter Stumpf, Alex Kerr, Mark Steinberg, Richard Lester, Martin Beaver, Ani Kavafian, Peter Winograd, David Geber, and Nicholas Mann에게 사사중이다.

K-arts (Korea National University of Arts) Quartet

K-arts Quartet is currently appointed as the main string quartet of the School of Music, Korea National University of Arts (K’arts). Founded in 2016, K-arts Quartet consisted some of the rising stars in the Korean Classical Music scene. With an average age of 17 years, its four members, currently students of the appointed university, deliver well-balanced performances uniform in sound. Ever since its formation, K-arts Quartet has been performing in and around Seoul, as well as on the international stage, most notably, with concert exchanges at IU Bloomington, USA. A collaboration with the Vera Quartet in the Fall of 2016 at IU would be followed by a similar one at K’arts in the Spring of 2017. With Prof. Sangmin Park at the helm as its official coach, K-arts Quartet had also benefitted from a long list of influential mentors, including Prof. Namyun Kim, Junghyun Kim, Sangwoo Park, Prof. Sunhwa Oh, Hanna Lee, as well as Prof. Kang ho Lee.

K-arts 사중주단은 현재 한국예술종합학교 대표 현악4중주단으로 평균나이 17세의 한국 클래식 음악계의 유망주들로 구성되어 있다. 2016년에 창단된 K-arts 사중주단은 서울을 중심으로 활동하고 있으며 2016년 11월 미국 인디애나 대학교 제이콥 음악대학에서 교류 사업의 일환으로 연주회를 열었다. 당시 베라 사중주단과 합동 공연을 하였으며, 올해 봄 한국에서 함께 연주할 예정이다. K-arts콰르텟은 박상민 교수에게 실내악 지도를 받고 있으며, 김남윤 교수, 김정현, 박상우, 오순화 교수, 이한나, 이강호 교수를 사사하고 있다.
