Play
“Waiting For” by the School of Drama Is Acclaimed in India
A non-verbal performance,
“Waiting For,” made up by the School of Drama students garnered acclamation.
The performance was staged at the National School of Drama (NSD) in Delhi,
India. The event was arranged as a part of the 17th Asia Pacific
Bond of Theatre Schools (APB) Festival and APB directors’ conference from 14 to
20 August. The K-Arts was the only drama school participant from Korea. In this
festival, 10 drama schools from 10 countries presented 8 works.
“Waiting For” is an adopted work developed from Anton P. Chekhov’s original play, “Three” Sisters,” by Professor Nam Geungho of the Department of Acting (School of Drama). Drawing great applause at the end, the play closed with the curtain call performance of dancing to K-pop music. It was followed by the post-show talkback with the audience, including NSD students and other APB members.
“It was a
discovery of ‘Three Sister,’” “It was amazing that the inner voice was sufficiently
carried by the body movements,” “If I ever get a chance, I want to watch the
show once again,” praised the audience with a great interest in theatres in
Korea and the K-Arts’s School of Drama.
Aside from that, the
18th APB directors’ conference takes place from 27 to 28 September on
the Seokgwan campus in K-Arts. Dean Kim Mihee of the School of Drama is serving
as the vice president of APB. At the conference, the School of Drama, which has
led the innovation and advancement of Korea’s drama education, together with
the many Asian drama schools will share its educational accomplishments to further
the growth of theatre.
