Sohn Hyunlok’s That Summer’s Lie (2024) Is Now in Theatres
That Summer’s Lie (2024) by Director Sohn Hyunlok (age 32), a current
student of the School of Film, TV & Multimedia, was released on Wednesday,
28 August. It was a graduation film for Sohn’s master’s degree in Filmmaking. The
film forthrightly portrays the bold love story between two adolescents at
seventeen.
Staying away from stereotypical sketches of teenagers, the film focuses on
teen’s desires. “I’ve been inquiring into how I, as an adult, should look at
teenagers,” said Sohn. Throughout his works, Sohn continuously talked about somewhat
skewed family relationships, diverging from the individual portrait of teens.
“It is an achievement of the Department of Filmmaking’s graduate curriculum that a K-Arts student’s graduation film enters theatres,” remarked Dean Han Sangjin of the Department of Multimedia.
The Master of Arts curriculum at the Department of Filmmaking of the
School of Film, TV & Multimedia provides programs where its students can
produce short and feature films. The programs also sponsor the students’ film
production by annual funding.
