Dancers Kim Kimin and Park Sae-eun Reunite in “La Bayadere” After 15 Years
Kim Kimin and Park Sae-eun, the representative ballet dancers of the
School of Dance, welcome their audience with the Korean National Ballet on 1
and 3 November. Kim Kimin, the principal dancer of Mariinsky Ballet, and Park
Sae-eun, the étoile (principal dancer) of the Paris Opera Ballet, partner on
stage after 15 years since the Korean National Ballet’s “Swan Lake” in 2009.
“La Bayadere” was composed in 1877 by Ludwig Minkus and choreographied by Marius A. Petipa who is a French choreographer and a representative figure in classical ballet, for the Imperial Russian Ballet (now Mariinsky Ballet). The Korean National Ballet will showcase the re-production of Yury N. Grigorovich’s version, which re-interpreted the original work for Bolshoi Ballet in 1991. The Korean National Ballet’s version focuses on portraying the main dancers’ characters.
The tickets for the time slots of Kim Kimin and Park Sae-eun’s performances
were sold out in 3 minutes. The remaining tickets were sold out in 35 minutes.
This marked the fastest ticket-selling record of this year in the Korean
National Ballet.
Besides, from 27 to 29 September, the Universal Ballet put on stage the
same work starring Jeon Minchul, an alumnus of the School of Dance. Jeon is
expected to join the Mariinsky Ballet upon obtaining his BA from K-Arts. The
exceptional condition Jeon was offered to join the Mariinsky Ballet made
