KNIGA Student Kim Hyun-seo Wins Awards at the 74th Viotti International Music Competition

Kim Hyun-seo (age 14) won the Second and Audience Prizes at the 74th Viotti International Music Competition, which was held in Vercelli, Piedmont, Italy, from 12 to 19 October. She was the youngest and first Korean winner of the contest.

The Viotti International Music Competition started in 1950 as a piano competition, named after composer and violinist Giovanni Battista of the late 18th century. It takes place in Vercelli, the artist’s hometown. The competition decides the winners by strict standards. The world-class renowned artists of the time, such as Yehudi Menuhin, joined the jury.

After the competition, Kim said, “The biggest accomplishment I attained this time was not just two awards I received. Rather, I realized that music had the power to connect people beyond the boundaries of age, ethnicity, or culture. I’d like to thank my teachers, classmates, and friends in KNIGA for accompanying me with their passion and endeavor in music on my path to make this achievement.”

Aside from that, the KNIGA hosts its 4th Ensemble Concert at the Lee Kang Sook Hall on the Seocho campus on 9 November. With their dazzling talents and enthusiasm, the music prodigies of KNIGA will deliver the audience a romantic autumn day.
