Emeritus Professor Choe Junho of the School of Drama Becomes an Artistic Director of Chuncheon Puppet Festival
Emeritus Professor Choe Junho of the School of Drama has
been appointed as an artistic director of the Chuncheon Puppet Festival starting
in 2025.
Prof. Choe has served as the art director of the Seoul
Arts Center and Korean Cultural Center in Paris, dean of the School of Drama, and
committee chairman of the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture (SFAC). In
2020, he was granted Legion d’Honneur, the French government’s highest honor, as
the first Korean performing art and culture promoter to receive it.
The Chuncheon Puppet Festival aims to renew itself
with its newly appointed artistic director. In the coming year, the festival
will oversee many events, such as the 24th UNIMA Congress and the
World Puppet Festival, for over 5,000 participants from more than 200 countries.
With his abundant successful experiences in previous projects, Choe is highly
anticipated to create a new vision for the Chuncheon Puppet Festival.
“I will strive to make the Chuncheon Puppet Festival
more open and innovative,” Artistic director Choe Junho revealed, expressing his
aspirations.
