Team Department of Design’s Logo Gets Selected to Mark S. Korea-Singapore 50th Anniversary

A team of students from the K-Arts’s Department of Design won an open call for a logo design, co-arranged by the Singapore Embassy in South Korea and the South Korean Embassy in Singapore, to celebrate the 50 years of partnership between the two countries.

The winning design features the number “50,” symbolizing the two countries’ 50th anniversary, with elements and colors inspired by the national flags of South Korea and Singapore.

For two months, K-Arts and Singapore’s Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) conducted collaborative workshops to design the logo. During the workshops, the two institutions strengthened their friendship through cultural exchanges and discussions while brainstorming design ideas.

The final selection was made from student submissions after screening by design experts and officials in the relevant departments of both countries.

The chosen logo will be used throughout the year on occasions celebrating the 50th anniversary of South Korea and Singapore’s diplomatic ties.

On behalf of the Singapore Embassy in Korea, Singapore Ambassador to South Korea, Eric Teo, thanked the students of K-Arts and NAFA, noting, “The vibrant and dynamic design beautifully reflects the spirit of innovation and friendship shared by our two countries.” He added, “All of them are winners in their own right.”

Teo also expressed hope that the students enjoyed their experience and gained a better understanding of each other’s culture. Describing Singapore and South Korea as “like-minded countries,” Teo emphasized, “There is much to look forward to in the next 50 years and beyond [in the relationship between Singapore and South Korea].”

South Korea and Singapore established diplomatic relations on August 8, 1975. To commemorate the 50th anniversary, the Singapore Embassy in South Korea is planning various events to showcase the friendship between two countries. Further details will be posted on the embassy’s social media as the events unfold.
