At 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 21 at the Choi Jong-hyun Auditorium in SK Future Hall on Korea University’s main campus, K-Arts and Korea University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to cooperate on academic research and education.

At the signing ceremony, approximately 150 deans from both schools, faculty members, and students were present. Student representatives from each school delivered congratulatory speeches, and students from the School of Music at K-Arts presented a brass quintet performance.

According to the MOU, the two institutions will collaborate in academia and arts, particularly by integrating education and research.

The main contents of the MOU include the following: cooperation of academic research and curricula, faculty exchanges, recognition of course credits for student exchanges, joint research projects, co-hosting academic symposiums, conducting academic-industrial research together, co-hosting events such as artistic exchange, exhibitions, and performances, sharing facilities, and co-developing lifelong education programs.

Through the MOU, K-Arts aims to develop innovative, integrated educational curricula and conduct collaborative research that bridges the boundaries between arts and academia. In the meantime, Korea University anticipates maximizing the value of cultivating creative talents through academic-industrial cooperation in the arts field.

President Kim Daejin of K-Arts emphasized, “The MOU marks the beginning of a journey to create new values through a convergence of academic disciplines and the arts. Our efforts will not merely constitute institutional cooperation, rather, they will represent a significant step  forward toward a future where academia and the arts work hand in hand.”

President Kim Dongwon of Korea University reciprocated, “I would like to express my gratitude to all who have supported us at the start of this journey. The MOU signed today will serve as an important starting point for cultivating talents who will lead our future through collaborative curriculum development, joint research, and various events such as joint performances and exhibitions across the academic and arts fields.”

Both schools will discuss the details of practical matters to ensure the successful implementation of the MOU.
