The 16th Hong Jin-Ki Creator
Award was bestowed upon Lee Hanuri, a current student in the Department of

The Hong Jin-Ki Creator Award was established
in honor of Yumin Hong Jin-ki (1917-1986), the former president of The
JoongAng, who dedicated himself to leading creative movements in government,
corporations, and media during Korea’s nation-building and industrial development.
The awards recognize individuals or organizations
that have contributed to innovation in science and technology, social sciences,
or culture and arts, or who show promising creativity. Lee Hanuri won in the
culture and arts category.
The award ceremony will be held on June
19. On the day, winners will receive 100 million Korean won, a medal, and a
certificate.
This year’s awardees are: Park Jinyoung, a
professor at NYU, in science and technology, Byun Hyeondan, head of Native
Seedream Corp., in social sciences, and Lee Hanuri, a current K-Arts student,
in culture and arts. The awardees were selected after a rigorous and objective two-
month evaluation by the award committee, following nominations from experts
worldwide in their respective fields.
