Department
of Fine Arts Hosted the 2025 Foundation Exhibition
From June 13
through 18, the Department of Fine Arts, School of Visual Arts, held the 2025
Foundation Exhibition at the New Building Gallery on the Seokgwan Campus.
Professors Kim Yeongyong and Koo Jiyoon explained that Foundation & Studio are
fundamental courses exploring a diverse realm of contemporary artistic
practices, designed for aspiring artists who seek to realize the value of art
and learning through hands-on production in the field.
The exhibition showcased
outcomes from four classes over a semester. The students’ artistic achievements,
according to the specific curricula of individual courses, were displayed in detail.
Foundation &
Studio 1 (subtitled “Sensing Body”) redefines the act of observation through
the body and seeks a more adventurous mode of expression. Foundation &
Studio 2 (subtitled “Narratives and an Anthology”) explores the narratives that
occur between the aesthetic subject and object. Foundation & Studio 3
(subtitled “Conduct-Act”) investigates various means of artistic expression through
the relationship between art and acts from both theoretical and practical perspectives.
Foundation & Studio 4 (subtitled “Construction and Transition”) examines
the open system of art, which is ever-changing through the construction and
deconstruction of the visible.
Featuring products
distinguished by the artistic struggle and creativity of the Department of Fine
Arts students, the exhibition raised anticipation for the future artistic
worlds they would unfold. The next exhibition, composed of outcomes from second-semester
courses, is planned for the end of the year.
