At 2 p.m. on June 19 (Thursday), on the Ara Campus of Jeju National University, K-Arts, Jeju National University (President Kim Il-hwan), and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Oh Young-hun) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to reinforce collaboration in AI content and reinvigorate the Jeju Learncation program.

The main contents of the MOU are as follows: collaboration in the fields of arts, culture, and AI content; joint operation of the Learncation program; development of a social contribution program to address local issues in Jeju; and more.

Through this MOU, which focuses on integrating AI technology into the fields of arts and culture, the involved parties anticipate laying the foundation for cultivating young artists’ creative endeavors while strengthening their global competence.

Jeju’s Learncation Program is an educational model that integrates learning experiences with vacation. Featuring Jeju’s nature, culture, and digital infrastructure, it aims to provide innovative learning experiences and creative opportunities. Based on the MOU, the program will offer students course credits through a wide range of authentic Jeju learning experiences that combine learning, creating, and hands-on activities.

Kim Daejin, President of K-Arts, stated, “The arrival of the AI era is providing us with new devices and technologies that expand the spectrum of the arts. We will actively collaborate under the MOU to foster prospective talents who will open a new dimension of the future with creative ideas and vision.”

Oh Young-hun, Governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, emphasized, “Jeju will strive to lead industrial models of the upcoming global content business integrating AI, arts and culture, and education. Jeju will also advance as an arts and cultural city based on AI technology, associated with diverse industries such as aerospace, green energy, biotechnology, and digital content.”

Kim Il-hwan, President of Jeju University, responded, “The MOU initiated today will mark the starting point for extensive cooperation in educational curricula, student exchange, and joint cultural events. I would like to express my gratitude to those who joined this meaningful partnership.”

The three parties will consolidate the details of the MOU through discussions to achieve tangible results.
