K-Arts Hosts International Co-work of Animation 2025 for CAMPUS Asia

From Wednesday, July 16 to Wednesday, July 30, at the Seokwan campus, the Department of Animation in the School of Film, TV & Multimedia (department head Park Jongshin) hosted the 16th International Co-work of Animation 2025.

The program encourages collaboration among students from South Korea, China, and Japan, who work together on animated films from production to premiere. The program was launched in 2010 by K-Arts and Tokyo University of the Arts, with the Communication University of China joining in 2012. Since then, it has expanded into a three-country co-production effort. Running from May to July, the program’s schedule follows the regular academic calendars of the three schools. Students participating in the program earn course credits according to the academic policies of their respective institutions. Notably, since 2016, when the Ministries of Education from South Korea, China, and Japan agreed to initiate the CAMPUS Asia, the program has been held alternatively in the countries of the three participating institutions.

* CAMPUS Asia (Collective Action for Mobility Program of University Students in Asia) is a cross-border student mobility initiative led by the Ministries of Education from each participating country, aiming to enhance networks among higher education institutions in South Korea, China, Japan, and ASEAN countries.

This year, participating students were divided into groups through online workshops held on June 4 and July 1. For two weeks of intensive workshops starting July 16 at the Seokwan campus, the participants worked on production and presented their outcomes on July 30.

On the presentation day, a total of five productions co-produced during the two-week workshop by students from South Korea, China, and Japan were premiered.

Professor Lee Jungmin of the Department of Animation, who supervises the project, commented, “The international co-work animation program among students from the three countries is a leading higher education exchange program in Asia, laying the foundation for an educational cooperation system that cultivates students’ global abilities. We anticipate the program will significantly contribute both to nurturing tomorrow’s talents and constructing a human resources network in Asia.”
