Professor Kim Kyungkyun’s Sea Glass Face Book 100 Selected for IMMAGINA Festival 2025

Sea Glass Face Book 100 by visual artist Kim Kyungkyun, a professor in the Department of Design at the School of Visual Arts, was selected for the IMMAGINA Festival 2025 in Italy. IMMAGINA Festival is not a typical book event, but an expo showcasing illustrations, photographs, and experimental publications from around the world. This year, the event is held under the theme of “Inutile (Useless)” at the Ex Cavallerizza in Lucca, Italy, from August 29 to August 31.

Aiming to reclaim the power of imagination from uselessness (“inutile”), the exhibition curates more than 140 books for visitors to explore.

Kim Kyungkyun’s Sea Glass Face Book 100 is a collection of unique and beautiful paintings created from abandoned glass fragments collected on the seashore; Kim arranged these fragments into one hundred facial expressions, then further divided them into quarters to generate thousands more. The book is part of Kim’s sea glass painting book series, which also includes Sea of Light and Kongkong and Ringring Cats Born from Raindrops.
