Students Thrive at the 9th Tanzolymp Asia
Current students of the School of Dance at K-Arts (Acting
President Lee Younghee) achieved excellence, elevating the prestige of traditional
Korean dance at the 9th Tanzolymp Asia International Dance
Competition.
On August 23 of the competition, Oh Sumin (age 20, first-year
BA), Yang Hyeonseok (age 22, third-year BA) both won Gold. Meanwhile, Kim
Sohyeon (age 23, fourth-year BA), Kim Minjae (age 21, second-year BA) shared
the Silver, and Heo Kyeol (age 23, fourth-year BA ) took Bronze.
The international jury included Oleksi Bessmertni
(Tanzolymp Berlin CEO, Germany), Kenny Wang (Founder and director of Taiwan
Grand Prix International Ballet Competition, Taiwan), and Jeffrey Tan (Artistic
Director of the National Contemporary Ballet, Singapore). Domestic jury members
included Kang Kyungmo (Professor of Dance at Kookmin University's College of
Arts), Park Jongmin (Professor of Dance at Dongshin University), and Shin
Changho (Professor of Dance at K-Arts).
Each year, renowned dance institutions and
schools from over ten countries, including Taiwan, Mongolia, Singapore, Japan,
China, Hong Kong, participate in the Tanzolymp Asia International Dance
Competition to compete for a spot in the final round held in Berlin. The
competition aims to cultivate talented dancers from Asia and pave their way to advance
to the global stage.
