K-Arts Students Poised to Shine in the 2026 Sejong Season

The Sejong Center has announced its lineup for the 2026 Sejong Season, featuring a total of seventeen repertory pieces by its five resident art troupes, along with ten new works – eight produced by the troupes themselves and two presented in collaboration with external organizations.

The Seoul Metropolitan Theater will stage A.P.T., a play directed by Lee Junwoo, which delves into the themes of social desire and collective psychology in contemporary Korean society. The play, written by Kang Hoongu, an alumnus of the School of Drama, will run from October 24 to November 14.

The Seoul Metropolitan Traditional Orchestra will perform Mixed Orchestra on April 16, featuring a new composition by Lee Hanurij, the ensemble’s composer-in-residence and a current student at the School of Music. The Seoul Metropolitan Dance Theatre will present its original work Gut: Whispering Steps from September 10 to 13, inspired by Seoul Gut, a traditional shamanistic ritual. The production will feature music composed by Lee Hanurij and a performance by Ki Moogan, an alumnus of the School of Dance.

In the Seoul Metropolitan Chorus’s Masterpiece Collection Series II: Carmina Burana, scheduled for May 21, the Yonbyul Ballet Company – renowned for its original ballet, Gat – will join the performance. The company is led by Yun Byul, also an alumnus of the School of Dance.

Meanwhile, the Seoul Metropolitan Ballet will return to the stage with choreographer Kang Hyohyung’s In the Bamboo Forest from May 15 to 17, expanding the expressive range of contemporary ballet.

With numerous K-Arts students and alumni participating across major productions, the 2026 Sejong Season is set to be an inspiring stage for K-Arts students to soar even higher.
