K-Arts
Holds 2026 Matriculation Ceremony
K-Arts (President Pyeon Jangwan) hosted its 2026
matriculation ceremony on Friday, February 20, at 11 a.m. in the Lee O-young
Art Theater on the Seokgwan Campus.
A total of 921 students—including 565 undergraduate,
338 graduate, and 18 Art Major Asian plus Scholarship (AMA+) recipients—were
officially welcomed into the K-Arts community. Held under the theme “Indigo
Blue: Surpassing the Source,” the event celebrated newcomers poised to surpass
their predecessors and forge bold artistic legacies. This theme echoes K-Arts’
educational philosophy of cultivating talents who transcend the achievements of
their mentors.
President Pyeon addressed the students: “K-Arts will
serve as a steadfast guardian during your time here, supporting each step
forward. We stand with those who dare to dream and challenge.”
Celebratory performances by students from the School
of Korean Traditional Arts featured Taepyeongmu (“Dance of Great
Peace”)—symbolizing tranquility and success—and Pangut (a dynamic samullori),
blending jinbeop, sangsoe, seoljanggu, and sogo dance to celebrate their bold
leap ahead.
Seven outstanding freshmen received the K-Arts
President Award: Kim Si-cheol (School of Music, Department of Instrumental
Music), Jeong Hyeon-min (School of Drama, Department of Acting), Yun Seong-min
(School of Film, TV & Multimedia, Department of Cinema Studies), Lee
Chae-rin (School of Dance, Department of Dance Performance), An Si-eun (School
of Visual Arts, Department of Art Theory), Kim Seong-hyeon (School of Korean
Traditional Arts, Department of Korean Traditional Dramatic Performing Arts), and
AMA+ scholar Davronov Shahboz (School of Korean Traditional Arts, Department of
Korean Traditional Music).
