Park Seyoung’s Slide Strum Mute (2026) Now Playing
Park Seyoung, an alumnus of the School of Film, TV
& Multimedia, released his short film Slide Strum Mute (2026) on February
26 at CGV theaters and art house cinemas nationwide. This 59-minute mystery
follows Woo-jin (WOODZ), who spirals into obsession and a cursed timeline after
playing a broken guitar received from a mysterious stranger. Singer WOODZ,
following the success of his recent chart-topping single, “Drowning,” makes his
acting debut in the lead role.
The screenplay is inspired by WOODZ’s autobiographical
essay penned during his military service. Blending music video aesthetics with
conceptual photography, the project offers a preview of his expansive artistic
universe ahead of his musical comeback, blurring the boundaries between music
and film.
Park, a rising visionary in Korean cinema, swept three
awards at the 2022 Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival with his debut
feature, The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra (2023). His second film, The Fin (2025),
earned a spot in the “Concorso Cineasti del Presente” (Filmmakers of the
Present Competition) at the Locarno Film Festival.
