Three
Korean Dance Majors Excel at the 31st KCDC
Three students
from the Department of Dance Performance at the K-Arts School of Dance received
awards at the 31st Korea Contemporary Dance Competition (KCDC). Organized
by the Contemporary Dance Association of Korea, the nationwide competition aims
to discover emerging talent and foster creative potential in contemporary dance.
In the senior male
category, Lee Yungyu won the Grand Prize (Minister of Culture, Sports, and
Tourism Prize), along with prize money of KRW 1 million, for performing Mummy.
Kim Minjae was awarded Bronze for Solastalgia, while Seo Jinhwan received
the Artistic Director’s Prize for What am I. Each dancer presented
original choreography, demonstrating strong creative vision and expressive
depth that impressed both the jury and the audience.
Established in
1996, the KCDC is one of the Korea’s leading dance competitions, supported by
the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. It serves as an important
platform for dancers seeking to advance to the international stage. This achievement
once again highlights the excellence of K-Arts dance students in the field.
