The K-Arts School of Music presented its
87th KNUA Symphony Orchestra Regular Concert on May 4 at the Lee
Kang Sook Hall on the Seocho Campus. Under conductor Hwang Mina’s direction, the
program spanned classical and romantic masterpieces.
The concert opened with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture, Op. 62, led by senior student Lee Juyeon (stage direction). Cellist Choi Ahyeon, a winner of major international competitions including the Isangyun Competition, then performed Antonín Dvořák’s Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104, B. 191, blending delicate phrasing with powerful expression.
The program concluded with A. Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7 in D minor Op. 70. Hwang Mina’s precise conducting brought out the work’s tragic depth and distinctive ethnic character. This concert featured graduating seniors’ degree-recital performances, showcasing academic rigor alongside artistic excellence.
Admission was free on a first-come,
first-served basis, offering local audiences access to professional-caliber
classical music. The School of Music highlighted its next generation of
