K-Arts Students Achieve Outstanding Results at the 23^rd Seoul International Dance Competition

A total of 22 students from the School of Dance and KNIGA at K-Arts achieved remarkable results at the 23rd Seoul International Dance Competition (SIDC). Held from May 29 to July 22 at Naru Art Center, this year’s competition saw Jung Geonse, a fourth-year student in the Department of Dance Performance, win first place in the senior male category as well as the Grand Prix of the competition.

In the contemporary senior female category, Ahn Yunji placed second, while Jo Inyeong received the Chairperson’s Prize. Ahn Ga-in was awarded the Chairman of the Jury’s Prize, and Seo Chaewon and Zhang Xinyu jointly received the Artistic Director’s Prize. In the senior male category, Yang Hyeonseok placed third.

In the ethnic dance creative senior female category, Jo Hyeon-kyeong received the Jury’s Prize, and Bang Jiyun was awarded the Artistic Director’s Prize.

K-Arts students also excelled in ballet. In the senior female category, Park Hamin took first place, followed by Choi Jumi in second place, Jeong Kyuwon in third place, and Jo Yeonseo, who received the Jury’s Prize. In the senior male category, Lee Jinho won first place.

Students from KNIGA also delivered strong performances. In the junior male category, Kim Minsang took first place. In the junior female category, Kim Minjin received the Chairman of the Jury’s Prize. In the pre-junior 2 female category, Jang Sarang won first place, Kim Nahyeon placed second, and Lee Soyul received the Artistic Director’s Prize. In the pre-junior 1 male category, Lee Seungbin took first place, while in the female category, Lee Seoyeon placed third, and Park Na-eun received the Chairperson’s Prize.

Founded in 2004, SIDC is regarded as Asia’s largest dance competition, often described as the “dance Olympics” of Asia. Each year, the competition brings together internationally recognized dance professionals to discover promising dancers and support their advancement onto the global stage. Through this year’s achievements, K-Arts once again demonstrated its academic excellence and the outstanding capabilities of emerging dancers.
