Department of Architecture Earns Highest Level of Accreditation from KAAB

The Department of Architecture in the School of Visual Arts has been awarded the highest level of accreditation from the Korea Architectural Accrediting Board (KAAB).

Following an on-site evaluation conducted from April 26 to 28, the KAAB review panel rigorously assessed the department across multiple criteria, including degree programs, curricula, student admissions, human and material resources, and operating systems. As a result of this thorough review, the department was granted the highest accreditation tier, which remains valid through 2032.

Under South Korea’s Certified Architects Act, graduates of KAAB-accredited programs qualify to sit for the Architect Registration Examination after just three years of practical training. Furthermore, through KAAB’s international signatories, this accreditation grants graduates substantial equivalency recognition under the Canberra Accord and the UNESCO-UIA Validation Council for Architectural Education (UVCAE).

The Department of Architecture has consistently advanced its educational standards by modernizing facilities, strengthening internal communication, and continually updating its curriculum to foster innovative architects prepared for future global demands. As South Korea’s only institution validated by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), the department’s new top-tier KAAB accreditation further cements its position as a world-class center for architectural education.
