Win at Gwanjae Gugak Award

Professor Kwak Tae-gyu of the School of Korean Traditional Arts won the 6th Gwanjae Gugak Award. The Administrative Committee of Gwanjae Gugak Awards under the Korean Musicological Society appointed Professor Kwak as the winner and held the 6th Gwanjae Gugak Award Ceremony in Umyeon-dang at the National Gugak Center. 


Gwanjae Gugak Awards is the first award in the field of Korean traditional music (gugak) founded by the late master-musician Seong Gyeong-rin. It is awarded to the gugak artists who have contributed to preservation, transmission and dissemination of Korean traditional music. Besides, Professor Kwak served as the art director of Contemporary Gugak Orchestra at the National Gugak Center. He is now a professor of School of Korean Traditional Arts at the National University of Arts and strives for initiating the 46th Intangible Cultural Property, Piri Recital Jeongak and Daechwita.
