Cheonjang-gwan Dormitory
Re-opens After 11-Month Renovation
The Cheonjang-gwan Dormitory at Korea National
University of Arts (K-Arts) has officially reopened following an 11-month,
full-scale renovation.
A commemorative ceremony was held at the dormitory at 10:30 a.m. on September 11 to celebrate the reopening, welcome incoming students, and recognize those who contributed to the project. The renovation work took place from July 2025 to June 2026.
The newly renovated building spans a gross floor area of 7,028.1 square meters, comprising one basement level and four above-ground floors. It features a total of 114 rooms—including four rooms specially designed for students with disabilities. Additional facilities include three guest rooms, three shared kitchens, a shared laundry room, a gym, and a student affairs office.
More than 40 people attended the ceremony, including
K-Arts President Jangwan Pyeon, the vice president, deans of the university's
six schools, the dormitory director, project contributors, and incoming
students. Following a welcome address by the dormitory director, the program
featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, an award of recognition for those involved
in the renovation, and a tour of the updated facilities.
President Pyeon emphasized the importance of providing
a stable and comfortable living environment to help aspiring artists fully
devote themselves to their artistic practices. He expressed his hope that the
renewed dormitory will greatly enhance student welfare and contribute to a
vibrant campus life.
