Kim Seung-hee, a Graduate of the School of Visual Arts, Hosts the Exhibition The Third Nature in Berlin, Germany

Kim Seung-hee, an alumna of School of Visual Arts at the Korea National University of Arts, runs a garden project at Kulturforum and at St. Matthew Church in the center of Berlin from May to November with Han Seok-hyeon. This project, which recreates South and North Korean flora, is organized in memory of the 30th anniversary of the collapse of Berlin Wall.

Artist Kim carries out ecological practices in the form of modern art, and she has been paying attention to the topics of Berlin Wall and sociological, urban architectural, and ecological changes in Berlin after the collapse of Berlin Wall. For this garden project, she had selected and transplanted 60 species of South and North Korean plants – of which 37 were from South and 23 were from North – in Berlin garden and reproduced the landscape of painting “After Rain at Mt. Inwang” by artist Jeong Seon (1676-1759, known by the pen name “Gyeomjae”).
