The 1st International Organ Competition Opens

 

Oh Ja Kyung, the Professor of the School of Music, Initiates the International Organ Competition



 

Oh Ja Kyung, a professor of the School of Music and chairman of the board at the Korean Association of Organists, led the launch of the International Organ Competition. 

 

At the press conference, professor Oh said, We hope to contribute to promoting the organ and discovering the talented organists and added, There have been several domestic organ concours, but this will be the nations first international competition. Later professor Oh will join Arvid Gast, a renowned organist from Germany, in the competition as a jury. 


The International Organ Competition which will start next year accepts candidates who are born after September 1st, 1988. The admission is open from October 10th this year to April 30th next year, and the semi-final and the final will take place on September 2020. The first semi-final will be held at the Korea National University of Arts, and the second semi-final round, as well as the final, will be held at Lotte Concert Hall. The winner will be awarded 8,000 dollars and given a chance to play in the concerts organized by the Lotte Concert Hall.
