Lee Geon Yong, the Emeritus Professor of the School of Music, Takes Part as a Director at the 2019 International Isang Yun Composition Award

Lee Geon Yong, an emeritus professor of the School of Music at the Korea National University of Arts, participated in the 2019 International Isang Yun Composition Award as a director. 

The International Isang Yun Composition Award was founded in 2007 to commemorate composer Isang Yun’s musical spirit and promote the musical exchanges between East and West. The foundation ceased operations since 2013 for several reasons yet resumed as normal from this year. Consequently, there has been a reform made in the standard for evaluation; it has changed from the format of concours to that of considering an artist’s artistic influence and its relation to the society overall. Composer Heinz Hollinger from Switzerland and composer Kaija Saariaho from Finland were selected as the final co-winners of the 2019 International Isang Yun Composition Award on September 17^th, the anniversary of the birth of Isang Yun. 

The award ceremony takes place on November 3^rd, the day Yun deceased.
