Korea National University of Arts Holds the Online HOPE Concert to Support “Stay at Home” Measure to Control COVID-19
Korea National University of Arts (K-Arts) presents a series of online concerts to support people who are staying home to stop the spread of COVID-19 and to liven up the depressing atmosphere in the art communities due to consecutive concert cancellations in the wake of this crisis.
A total of thirty
professors and students in the fields of music, dance, and Korean traditional
arts are participating in the Online HOPE Concert,
which runs from March 11th through 31st. The two performance videos were
uploaded daily during this period on the university’s official website, its
Naver TV channel “K-Arts Theater,” and its Youtube channel “K-Arts TV”. The
videos, which are about 10-minutes long, consist of various instrumental solos
in the classical music (piano, violin, cello, flute, and clarinet) and the
Korean traditional music (gayageum, geomungo, piri, haegeum, and daegeum) as
well as dances (ballet, contemporary dance, and Korean traditional dance.) The
university also offered short films directed by the graduates once a day on its
official website.
Minister of Culture,
Sports, and Tourism of Republic of Korea Park Yang-woo paid the visit to the
concert’s participants on the first day of filming and said, “I’m very sorry to
see how artists are having difficult times due to multiple concert
cancellations following the Coronavirus outbreak. I hope this opportunity lets the
artists continue their performances and the people enjoy the culture.”
