K-Arts School of Music Presents the Concert “Beethoven 250th Strum und
Drang”
Celebrating the
250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven’s birthday, the students of School of
Music at the Korea National University of Arts will play Beethoven’s complete
piano sonatas (32 pieces in total) in a series of seven performances. The
concert begins with the first performance on March 27th and ends with the last
performance on Beethoven’s birthday, December 17th. The concert had no audience
amid the pandemic but live streamed through Naver TV and V Live channel “K-Arts
Theater.”
A set of 32 piano sonatas which Beethoven wrote throughout his musical life is meaningful in a way that it tells a history of how the composer’s unique style had been developed and established from early to middle and late periods.
Piano Sonatas from
No. 1 to No. 4, which are played in the first concert, are Beethoven’s early
works that are significantly influenced by Haydn and Mozart. Nevertheless,
these sonatas are unique to Beethoven as they are four movements long, which
was uncommon in his time. The young pianists from the K-Arts School of Music
look forward to communicating with Beethoven and giving rebirth to his
beautiful music via “Beethoven 250th Strum und Drang.” Along with Beethoven’s
music, the audience will be able to enjoy the artistry of different players in
these performances.
