Kim
Tae-Hyeong, Graduate of the School of Drama, Directs a Rock Musical Lizzie
Theater director Kim
Tae-Hyeong produced the premiere of rock musical Lizzie in
Korea. The staging of Lizzie this
year has been awaited by many musical fans.
The synopsis of this
musical is based on the true story of Lizzie Borden who was a suspect of an
unsolved murder case. During the running time, four female characters lead the
play with their powerful and yet delicate vocals. The critics view the musical
as a rock-style of harangue disproving the oppression and discrimination
against women still existing. Through Lizzie Borden's case from 118 years ago,
this musical reminds the audience of how the same problem repeats in today's
society.
Before, theater director
Kim was acclaimed for his other works such as the musical Marie Curie and
the plays Elite Students and The
Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window. The
cast of actress Na Ha-Na, another alumna of the School of Drama, for the role
of Lizzie Borden also heightens the expectation for this musical. Lizzie is
on stage from April 2nd to June 21st at Dream Art Center Theater at Daehak-ro.
