The Revised Edition of About Theatre by Professor Lee Seungyeop of the School of Drama Is Published



 Professor Lee Seungyeop’s About Theatre was revised and republished after 18 years of its first publication. About Theatre overviews 2500 years of history of theater and touches upon the keywords of contemporary performing arts.

 

 It is largely composed of three chapters. In the first chapter, it covers the history of Western theater originated from ancient Greece and the transition of Korean theater history. The second chapter examines today’s theater management in general, and the last chapter illuminates on the latest trends in the performing arts fields.

 

As an expert who has built his career in the art management and performing arts fields since 1987, Professor Lee at the Department of Theatre Studies (Theatre Management) emphasizes there are no two theaters alike by thoroughly going through 2500 years of theater history. Calling a theater “a complex high organism” and thus looking at its internal factors and relating them to current social issues, the professor puts the question of theater management in perspective.
