The Arko-K-ARTS Musical Academy Presents Sidereus in August

A musical Sidereus developed by playwright Baek Seung-woo and composer Lee Yoo-jung from the Arko-K-ARTS Musical Academy begins a new musical season at Chungmu Arts Center in August.

Sidereus, a new original musical by Baek Seung-woo and Lee Yoo-jung, had its first short reading performance in the Arko-K-ARTS Musical Academy in 2017. Later it was selected by the Chungmu Arts Center Black and Blue, the musical development program, and developed into a full performance. Sidereus tells a story of two friends, Galileo Galilei and Johannes Kepler who insisted on the Copernican system against the Ptolemaic system, the mainstream theory of their time. The musical opens with Kepler’s letter to Galileo.

The cosmic landscape filled on screen in the background that visually reproduces the two characters’ conversations on stars highlights the show. The musical is staged for the first time this year since it garnered praise during its premiere last year. For the cast, Park Minsung, Lim Byung-geen, Lee Chang-young play Galileo, and Jung Wook-jin, Ki Se-jung, and Shin Joo-hyup play Kepler. Lim Chan-min and Hong Ji-hee take the role of Maria. The musical starts to show from August 12th at Daehakro Art One Theater.
