Anytime & Anywhere, Online Concert with Commentary
The Arts & Culture Education Center affiliated with the Korea National University of Arts presents an online concert “Dreaming Concert – On Air” without an audience. It is an arts education program that aims to cultivate and enhance people’s understanding of classical music. In this mini-concert, the students of the School of Music have taken part in playing or providing commentaries on music.
For last 5 years, the program was run with the students from the School of Music at K-arts, entitled "Dreaming Noontime Concert Series." This year,
considering the lingering COVID-19 situation, the concert went online to
reach a wide range of audience, overcoming the limitations of time and space.
This concert presents two ensemble teams who had positive interactions with
their audience in this program.
KNUA Percussion Ensemble
The percussion ensemble makes amusing performance delivering unique sounds by exceptional playing skills with various musical instruments such as marimba, xylophone, vibraphone, drum, etc. The audience can enjoy music like Nigel Westlake’s “Omphalo Centric Lecture” or body percussion composer Thierry de Mey’s “Musique de Table.” In addition to the performance itself, commentaries on the music by the performers will add more pleasure to the audience.

KNUA Baroque Ensemble
The Baroque ensemble
brings the original Baroque music to the front. As the performers play music
pieces by J. S. Bach or G. P. Telemann by harpsichord (Cembalo), lute,
recorder, and some other string instruments exactly from the Baroque era, the
audience will be able to indulge in the aesthetics of classical music. This
program also introduces the characteristics of Baroque music or the comparison
between musical instruments from the Baroque era and one from the contemporary
time that the audience can better understand the Baroque music.
