Professor Sohn Min-Soo Releases the Beethoven Piano Sonata Album

On September 11th, professor Sohn Min-Soo (School of Music) released an album, "Beethoven: Complete Piano Sonatas." 

Professor Sohn played all of 32 piano sonatas in sequence from 2017 that was 190 years after the death of Beethoven, to 2020, the 250th anniversary of his birth. In a sense, his album marks the completion of his performance series. Upon the release of the album on 11th, professor Sohn initially scheduled on playing three sonatas, masterpieces that served as a bridge to romantic era music, in his last tour of the complete sonata performance series. Except for the ones at Elim Arts Center and Shinyoung Chamber Hall, he, however, had to cancel all the performances to be held in Tongyeong, Gwangju, and Seoul Arts Center due to the implementation of Level 2.5 social distancing. Instead, he added a new performance schedule later this year, on December 21st. In an interview, professor Sohn said, “For me, three years I devoted to Beethoven was both crucible and exuberance.”
