Professor Kim Kyeong-kyun’s Solo Exhibition “The Glass Bead Game”

“The Glass Bead Game,” a solo exhibition by professor Kim Kyeong-kyun (School of Visual Arts), took place at Terarosa Coffee Factory in Gangneung from September 18th to October 18th. 

Since professor Kim moved to Gangneung, he has collected glass pieces while strolling on the beaches near Gyeongpo, Anmok, Sacheon, Yeongok, and Jumunjin for a year. Then he tried many experiments by creating various artworks such as making English typefaces with his collection. Regarding collecting glass pieces, professor Kim wrote down, “I thought, for a moment, my involvement in nature may not be an environment-friendly act. At first, I believed I helped make a cleaner ocean environment, but now I see that I am more helping myself purify my mind.” 

Meanwhile, seven types of English typography art posters made with high-quality print paper from this exhibition are on sale exclusively online. The proceeds from the sale will go to protect the marine environment.
