The
K-Arts Participates in the 4th COVID-19 Art Forum
The Korea National
University of Arts co-hosted a forum, “COVID-19 Art Debate: Value and Future of
Art,” with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and six other
affiliated art cultural institutions. While a total of seven events will take
place, the Korea Culture Art Committee (Arko) held the fourth one among them in
September on the topic of “Environment and Delocalization of Local Art and
Culture after COVID-19.” It mainly focused on directions and tasks of the local
art cultural organizations and analyzed responses of overseas art cultural
organizations in assisting this field against the pandemic crisis. The 5th
debate planned for October will discuss the topic of “Diagnosis on Crisis of
Support for the Arts and Seek for Solution in the Transition Period.”
A policymaker from the
ministry said, “The local art communities are facing a big crisis due to
COVID-19. I hope that from these forums, we can discuss the roles and tasks the
local art cultural organizations can carry out to find out many measures for
the sustainable development of local art cultures.”
The Ministry of Culture,
Sports and Tourism live-stream these forums via Facebook and YouTube. According
to Level 2 measures, the event ran without an audience.
Starting from July till
the upcoming December, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism open the
COVID-19 Art Forum series seven times with seven affiliated organizations in
the field of arts. This debate also relates to the ResiliArt movement suggested
by UNESCO.
