GRAYCODE, jiiiiin Exhibits 《Data Composition》 at Sejong Center

Alumni GRAYCODE, jiiiiin Exhibits a Convergence Art <Data Composition> at Sejong Center

A sound artist duo of Joh Taebog (GRAYCODE) and Jeong Jinhee (jiiiiin), graduates of the Department of Music Technology in the School of Music, present their project at a special exhibition, Data Composition, from Friday, 15 January 2021 to Friday, 5 March 2021 at Sejong Museum of Art 2.

Data Composition exhibits contents that employ convergence of art and technology. Last July, Sejong Center recruited convergence art content from artists active in Korea through an open exhibition to provide them an opportunity to use an exhibition space they can freely use. Among a total of forty-eight entries, the work by artist duo GRAYCODE and jiiiiin became survivors of the final selection. Their work received good reviews for constructing the concept of time using data through which they introduced a new perspective to the audience of the viewing world of 2021. Overall, the critics evaluated their work as distinguished content that reflects the times of today.

The exhibition space filled with audio-visual data stimulates the audience’s auditory and visual senses. The duration of the audience’s stay in the exhibition space again converts into a piece of big data and gets stored. After fifty days of exhibition, the data will finally become a single album. Besides, GRAYCODE x jiiiiin won the Giga-Hertz Production Prize at the 2018 Gig-Hertz Award, the world’s foremost media art award, for the first time for Korean artists.
