Twelve Dancers Conquer the VKIBC 2021

 

Twelve Dancers of the School of Dance Conquer the 2021 Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition


 

The twelve students currently enrolled in the School of Dance had the glory of sweeping prizes in the 2021 Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition (Valentina Kozlova IBC). In Senior Division Female, Kim Jimin (19 years old, a sophomore), Kim Nayoung (19 years old, a sophomore), Oh Yeon (22 years old, a graduand) each took a gold medal and silver medals, respectively. In Senior Division Male, Lee Eunsoo (19 years old, a senior) won the gold medal, Kang Gyeongho (19 years old, a sophomore) earned the silver medal, and Lee Hunkyu (23 years old, a senior) acquired the bronze medal.

  

In Contemporary Solo Division, Lee Jisoo (21 years old, a senior) and Son Jiwon (20 years old, a senior) tied for gold medals for the female. In the same division for the male, Lee Byungchan (22 years old, a junior) and Ham Heewon (24 years old, a sophomore) tied for gold medals. Meanwhile, Oh Hyeontaek (21 years old, a senior) seized the silver medal.

 

In Junior Division, Min Seoyeon (18 years old, a sophomore) won the bronze medal. Named after ballerina Valentina Kozlova, a principal dancer of the Bolshoi Ballet, the Valentina Kozlova IBC inherits the Boston IBC. This year, the event took place from 8 Mar. through 15 Mar. 2021 with over a hundred dancers from thirteen countries, and people had access to the broadcast of the live event online.
