K-Arts Hosts the 13th Bach Week Including Online Concert
K-Arts livestreamed "Bach, Art of Fugue: Mathematical Logic + Musical Depth"
This year’s Bach Week starts with an Organ Solo Concert of Kymi Choi, who won the first prize at the 2019 St. Alban’s International Organ Competition. On Tuesday, current students in School of Music presented a subscription concert for KNUA (Korea National University of Arts) Organ, playing Partitas & Schübler Chorales whereas KNUA Baroque Chamber performed on Wednesday.
The highlight of the week was the “Die Kunst der Fuge BWV 1080 (Art of Fugue)” performance on the last day of the concert. The piece reflects Bach’s mastery of counterpoint that will last in music history. In this event, the arrangement by Helmut Winschermann (1920-2021), oboist and conductor of Deutsche Bachsolisten, who had devoted his musical life to playing Bach’s music, was premiered in South Korea. The live streaming of the concert was held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, 15 April through K-Arts’ official online channels on Naver TV and VLive. More than 6,000 audiences watched the concert in real time, leaving 28,000 ‘like.’
