Students Win Grand and Gold Awards at 2021 Dance Way

Students of School of Korean Traditional Arts and School of Dance Win Grand and Gold Awards at Dance Way

Yunsu Lim, a current student of the School of Korean Traditional Arts, earned the Grand and Gold Awards for Korean Traditional Dance at the 58th Dance Way, a dance competition. Lim gained the highest honors by even garnering the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award and Han Young-suk Award with dancing Hallyangmu (Hallyang (Noble) dance) choreographed by Cho Heung-dong, a prominent figure in the history of Korean traditional dance.

Additionally, Juryeon Bang of the School of Dance (21 years old, a senior in dance performance major) and Jiwon Son (20 years old, a junior in dance performance major) received recognition for earning Gold Awards respectively in the Creative Korean Dance Male and the Contemporary Dance Female. With this accomplishment, Lim and Bang can now serve in the military as skilled industry personnel in arts designated by Military Manpower Administration.

Organized by Korea Dance Association, Dance Way began in 1963 with bestowing New Artist Award in the dance. Since then, it has been consolidating its status as a contest for providing opportunities for new dancers to make their debuts.
